About the Department

As Senior Semantic Data Architect you will be part of the Professional Services department with team members distributed between our Vienna and Sofia offices. The Professional Services department works closely with our clients and prospective clients to design and build solutions on top of Graphwise product portfolio, to deliver state of the art functionality and business value to our clients. You will join a group of colleagues with technical and non-technical backgrounds, ranging from knowledge engineering, project management and computational linguistics to data engineering, software engineering or system engineering.

About the Position

We are looking for a Senior Semantic Data Architect to help Graphwise build state-of-the-art solutions using semantic technologies, knowledge graphs, interoperable data, and generative AI. You will design and build advanced business solutions and will work on both simpler (domain-independent), and complex (domain-specific) data. Your work will help Graphwise clients in industrial data domains such as building automation and BIM, electricity, oil and gas and semantic asset management. You will also be part of a community of Graphwise researchers, participating in a number of European research projects on these topics and Data Spaces. You will work from our offices in Vienna, Austria or in Sofia, Bulgaria (partly remote work, up to 3 days a week, is available after the initial onboarding period). For senior candidates, fully remote work is also possible.

Your Main Responsibilities:

  • Semantic data modeling by reusing existing ontologies, creating models and application profiles, ontology engineering. Performing ontology reviews, recommending appropriate ontologies for reuse
  • Analyzing domain specific and industrial datasets, ontologies and data standards such as Data Spaces, Industry 4.0, Asset Administration Shell
  • Converting of various schemas (UML, XSD, JSON Schema) to semantic models
  • Designing of data harmonization workflows and data pipelines for conversion of datasets to RDF and semantic integration
  • Translating business requirements into technical architectures, including relevant aspects of data governance, data management and update flows
  • Working on client projects to help them build industrial knowledge graphs and reap the benefits of semantic technologies
  • Participating in commercial and research projects and interacting with important partners
  • Providing consultation in relation to technical presales activities, RFPs and client proof-of-concept pilots
  • Writing research articles and technology blog posts
  • Traveling, as required, to attend project meetings, client meetings, business and academic conferences

As the ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technologies, or a related field
  • At least four years of experience in delivering Data solutions to enterprise customers
  • Experience with semantic technologies and knowledge graphs
  • Experience with various kinds of data and schemas (UML, XML, JSON, RDBMS)
  • Knowledge of a scripting language or command line tools for data manipulation
  • Experience with ETL tools (RML, Talend, OpenRefine, Informatica, DTS, etc)
  • Fluent English and excellent written communication

Skills that are an asset:

  • Experience with some industrial data and standards (industrial IoT, sensors, OPC UA, AutomationML, AdminShell, GS1 standards, IEC CDD or eClass, IFC, Electrical CIM, CFIHOS…).
  • Experience with Dataspace standards and tools (IDSA RAM, GAIA-X FS, EDC, ESMF, SAAM
